Spurs 3-0 Hoffenheim: Moore at the Double on N17 Return

Tottenham marked their return to N17 with a comfortable 3-0 victory over TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday afternoon, as academy graduate Mikey Moore stole the show with a second-half brace.

Richarlison opened the scoring 10 minutes before the interval before Moore struck twice after the restart, maintaining Spurs' unbeaten pre-season record following friendlies in Auckland, Sydney and at Hotspur Way.

The fixture also saw Marcos Senesi make his first appearance in Lilywhite, while fellow summer additions Andy Robertson, Jan Paul van Hecke and Sandro Tonali played in front of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium crowd for the first time as Spurs players.

Almost 55,000 supporters were in attendance on a sweltering afternoon in north London, and they were nearly treated to an early opener when dangerous deliveries from Moore and Robertson caused problems for the visitors.

Hoffenheim produced the first clear opportunities, however. Nathan De Cat released Adam Hlozek after 15 minutes, but the forward fired over from an angle. Hlozek went even closer moments later, advancing into space before seeing his right-footed strike clip the top of the crossbar.

Oliver Baumann was called into action for the first time in the 25th minute. Lucas Bergvall carried the ball forward brilliantly from deep before unleashing a 25-yard effort, forcing the Hoffenheim goalkeeper to dive to his left and turn it behind.

Moore continued to look dangerous and almost created the opener shortly afterwards. The teenager made room on the flank and sent a teasing low ball across goal, but neither Richarlison nor Mathys Tel could apply the finishing touch at the back post.

Tottenham's growing pressure finally paid off in the 35th minute. Tonali drove through midfield and found Robertson on the left, with the full-back delivering an excellent cross for Richarlison to dispatch first-time from 15 yards.

Hoffenheim threatened twice before the break. Antonin Kinsky kept out a powerful Adam Daghim drive, while Wouter Burger headed narrowly wide from Vladimir Coufal's delivery, allowing Spurs to take their one-goal advantage into half-time.

Second half

The Bundesliga side replaced all 10 of their outfield players for the second half and began brightly. Kinsky saved Patrick Wimmer's low effort before Mats Rots curled narrowly wide from the edge of the penalty area.

Richarlison passed up an opportunity to double Tottenham's lead in the 58th minute, firing over after Tel threaded a fine pass through the Hoffenheim defence. Spurs did not have to wait much longer for their second, though.

Tel skipped beyond two challenges on the left and drilled the ball across the six-yard box, where Moore got in front of his marker and poked home from close range.

Kinsky denied Max Moerstedt at his near post in the 72nd minute before Tel and Moore combined once again to put the result beyond doubt.

After seeing an earlier effort saved by Baumann, Tel weaved his way into the penalty area and picked out Moore. The 18-year-old kept his composure and guided a lovely finish into the bottom corner to complete his brace with 10 minutes remaining.

Most of Tottenham's starting XI played the full match ahead of another meeting with Hoffenheim at Hotspur Way on Sunday. Tyrese Hall, Malachi Hardy, Reiss Elliott-Parris, Miracle Adewole and Jamie Donley were all handed late minutes as Spurs comfortably saw out the victory.
